The Fourth of July is almost here and while holiday weekends are always a good excuse to head out of town, there are a lot of good reasons to stick around. Check out who's running specials, who will be closed, and some great events:
In honor of Independence Day, the City of Jersey City is putting on their now-annual festival with live music, vendors, good food, and fireworks.
The festival will take place at Liberty State Park on Monday, July 4th beginning at 1pm and running until around 10pm. There will be live music all day including headliner act The Village People and they'll have rides for kids, a beer garden, and over 25 food vendors from around New Jersey and New York including food trucks like Luke's Lobster, The Green Radish (vegan), The Cow and the Curd, Lebanese truck Toum, Kimchi Taco and Jersey City's own Milk Sugar Love and O'Lala empanadas. As for the rest of the weekend, here's what's happening:
Jersey City Fish Stand is offering 10% off all swordfish and shrimp orders placed by Thursday night.
FastBoy is offering free delivery through July 1st with code EARLY4THOFJULY before being closed July 3rd-July 5th.
Dark Side of the Moo will be closed Saturday, 7/2 and Sunday, 7/3.
Milk Sugar Love will be open regular hours all weekend in addition to having the truck at the LSP festival.
The Hamilton Pork and Hamilton Inn will be open their normal hours and both will be serving brunch on July 4th.
Taphaus is also open all weekend and finishing off with a 4th of July Independence Day & Night Bash.
Battello is open on July 4th, serving brunch and dinner but they do recommend reservations.
The Kitchen Step will also be open on July 4th and serving brunch from 11am-3pm and dinner from 5pm-10pm.
Barcade will start celebrating the long weekend on Friday, July 1st by tapping a selection of rare and vintage kegs continuing through the weekend and on Saturday through Monday, they're offering $1 hot dogs.
6th Borough Market is returning this Sunday from 11am-5pm for a little pre-holiday fun with lots of great vendors showing off antiques and vintage items, hand-crafted goods, and of course, food including Eema's, Angel's Recipe Thai ice cream and many more.
The Pop-Up Project is hosting a weekend full of events including a pre and after party for the fireworks. They'll have bands, a DJ, food trucks, vendors, and the beer garden going all weekend.
Both the Riverview Farmer's Market and the Farmer's Market in Lincoln Park will run on their normal schedules this weekend, but the Monday Grove Street Farmer's Market is canceled because of the holiday.
Edward's Steakhouse will be closed 7/3-7/4
Koro Koro, Cocoa Bakery, Sam a.m., Third & Vine and The Archer will be closed on Monday, 7/4.
Fox and Crow is debuting brunch this Sunday from 11am-3pm.
The Iron Monkey will have food and drink specials on Monday as part of their July 4th Barbecue Bash.
