  • Van Hook will be open until 8pm on Wednesday and from 9am-1pm for the perfect cheese and charcuterie to start your meal with, hostess gifts, snacks, and more. 
  • Thirsty Quaker is open regular hours on Wednesday and from 11am-5pm on Thursday for craft beer, Corgi Spirits favorites, and all of your other drinking needs.

Community News: Honey Bakery Accepting Online Orders, Smith & Change Changes Owners, and More

  • While not open to the public, Honey Bakery is now accepting orders throughout the week which can be picked up or delivered on Saturday. They're offering their full range of menu favorites along with some specialty items, all their baked goods (including the cottage cheese cookies!) and items are available in larger format catering, as individual meals, and some are even offered frozen for home cooking. Orders can be placed through their Square store and Honey Bakery is even offering some specialty Thanksgiving dishes which can be ordered through Monday for special pick-up or delivery on Wednesday. Don't miss your chance to try this local favorite!

Thanksgiving Part II - Who's Open, Who's Closed


If you're celebrating Thanksgiving in Jersey City, here's what's going, who will be open, and who will be closed.

  • Porta is celebrating their third anniversary in Jersey City with drink specials, a champagne toast, DJs, and a photo booth. The party starts at 10:30pm and entry is free with a non-perishable food item.

Thanksgiving is coming up quickly so here's your guide on where to order your turkey, sides and desserts or where to simply make reservations in Jersey City. 

Eating At Home
If you're looking for a raw turkey to prep and cook yourself, there are a couple of good local options:
  • Bone-In is offering two kinds of farm-fresh turkeys, a heritage breed for $8.50/lb and a broad-breasted for $7/lb. A $25 deposit is required which will be applied to the total cost of the turkey. They also have a variety of vegetables available for order.
  • Moloney's Meat Market in Journal Square has fresh turkeys ranging in size from 9-34 lbs.

Community News


  • Congratulations to The Grind Shop who will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their second location tomorrow, 10/24 at 234 Suydam Avenue inside The Baker Building. As an added note, they've now started carrying organic matcha lattes and Milk Sugar Love's matcha brownies
  • The HDSID Farmer's Market at Grove is looking for more bakers for the holiday season. 
  • Congratulations to Pet Shop on the soft open of their basement wine bar focusing on natural wines and join them on Thursday, 10/27 for their ribbon-cutting. 
  • Wurstbar has been busy: They recently launched a happy hour menu from 4pm-7pm every Monday through Friday and they've started offering desserts. Don't forget they now deliver too.

Stony Hill was offering local cage-free turkeys from Ashley Farms. They may still be accepting pre-orders, but time is definitely running short. Try calling (908) 879-2696 to place your request.

Thanksgiving in Jersey City 2014

Wondering what to do and where to eat before, during, and after Thanksgiving? Here's a list of what's happening in Jersey City.
  • La Conguita is already offering turkey specials and will be open from 8am-5pm on Thursday and 8am-10pm on Friday.
  • Taphaus will have $5 Jameson and Fireball shots and $1 off all drinks, beer, and wine on Wednesday to celebrate Thanksgiving Eve. 
  • Pint will be open until 2am on Wednesday and open from 5pm to 2am on Thursday in case you need a late night to recover from a day with the family.
  • Me Casa will be open on Thursday by reservation only and will be serving a special turkey stew.

The season has started and Thanksgiving is upon us!
