Weekend Eats and Events

Given the number of weather-related event cancellations we've had so far this spring, this weekend is especially packed with events all around town all  with great vendors and a lot to eat.

First up on Thursday, 5/12 from 7pm-10pm, is Iron Monkey's Cat vs Dog fundraiser with Forgotten Boardwalk and Tito's benefiting the Liberty Humane Society.

Saturday morning from 8am-3pm is the Farmer's Market at Van Vorst Park. Stop by and pick up some vegetables from local farms, fresh fish from JC Fish Stand, Bang Cookies, a fresh juice from Squeez'd, and more.

This Saturday is also the Pushing Up the Daisies Music Festival at Harsimus Cove Cemetery. The gates open at 1pm and Koro Koro and Honey Bakery will be serving up some great food with Thirsty Quaker and Departed Soles providing beer. Once the festival is over, there's an afterparty at Porta.

After having to reschedule last month, Pacific Flea is celebrating their reopening from 11am-5pm on Saturday 5/14. Besides all the great vintage finds and a ribbon cutting by Mayor Fulop, new Sicilian vendor Gusti Di Sicilia will be there with paninis, one of my favorite food trucks Mordi's Schnitzel will be there and Whealth is offering a three course brunch, availability by reservation only.

Charles & Co is celebrating their Grand Opening with a block party this Saturday from 12pm-6pm. The party will have live music, in-store specials, and vendors like Milk Sugar Love, Bread and Spoon, Park and Sixth, and Frankie, a new Australian-influenced wine bar opening soon, all serving up food.

6th Borough Market also had to reschedule their opening day, but that means they've got a full line-up for this week's opening event. There will be great hand-crafted and specialty goods but also and importantly - lots of food. Trucks like Carmella's and Chopping Block will be there along with specialty vendors Baonanas, Bang Cookies, Bucket & Bay, Squeez'd, and many more.

The Riverview Farmer's Market will be running from 10am-3pm and Incrediballs, Ozu Foods, Gina's Bakery and El Chilango will all be serving up great eats and you can stock up for the week with Oh Honey, Novello Cucina, Nature's Own Farm, JC Fish Stand and lots of other great vendors.
