Community News: Van Hook Outpost Now Open, Baonanas Storefront Coming Soon, & more

• Van Hook Cheese opened their grilled cheese-focused outpost near Hamilton Park at 232.5 Pavonia Ave over the weekend. They'll be open from 11am-7pm during the week and 11-6pm on Sundays initially and hours are subject to change.
• Baonanas announced they'll be opening up their first official storefront later this year! They have a spot in the West Side/Bergen Lafayette area and are hoping to open by November or December. 
• Congratulations to Razza on being named the second best pizza in the country, according to The Daily Meal. They specifically called out Razza's Bufala Pizza made from water buffalo in Sussex County.  Dan Richer, owner of Razza, also recently sat down with Justin Naylor of Old Tiago Farm for an interview.

• Per JC Upfront, new Vietnamese restaurant Ai Pho and Vermicelli is now open at 515 Avenue in the space formerly occupied by Big Chef. 
• Hidden Grounds is now carrying Dough Doughnuts on the weekends (which if you've never had them, are huge and delicious) and a selection of special treats from WHOS Gluten-Free on a daily basis.

Van Hook Cheese recently opened at 528 Jersey Avenue to the excitement and relief of many - most specifically me.

Van Hook Cheese & Grocery Opening Soon

New shop Van Hook Cheese & Grocery, 528 Jersey Avenue, is scheduled to open this Wednesday, 8/31 pending final code inspections.

Located right next to Choc-O-Pain Bakery on Jersey Avenue, the store is one of several specialty retailers and restaurants to open within a two block area over the past two years creating a small stretch of dedicated, ingredient-specific shops including Jersey City Fish Stand and Pasta Dal Cuore.

The Farmer's Market at Grove Street Returns

Today, 5/2, marks the return of the Farmer's Market at Grove Street. The market will run every Monday and Thursday through December from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
