Community News: La Festa Italiana is Back, Wingin It and Crepe Guru Now Open, and more

Jersey City

  • La Festa Italiana returns this week for its 115th year! Running from Wednesday 8/15-Sunday 8/19 from 5pm-11pm, the festival is one of the biggest events of the year and includes favorite traditions like the 50/50, live music, zeppoles, wine and peaches, and of course, the rice balls.
  • Crepe Guru officially celebrated their soft opening last week at 110 Bright Street. They've had the kitchen open for a while for pick-up and delivery, but have now actually opened the storefront up to customers. Formerly located in Hoboken, Crepe Guru is known for their sweet and savory crepes.
  • Wingin It, a new wing and sandwich spot, celebrated their Grand Opening on Saturday. The restaurant is located at 122 Ocean Ave and they're also available on Uber Eats.
  • Kraverie appears to have permanently closed. At the end of June, they put up a post on Instagram saying they were closing down for a couple of weeks for minor renovations, but they have yet to reopen and their website and Instagram have been removed. Attempts to reach them were not returned.
  • Van Hook Cheese has two more events coming up this August: next Thursday 8/23, they'll be joining with Jersey Wine & Spirits for a class on Rose and Cheese Pairing from 7-8:30pm and on Tuesday 8/28, they'll be holding an Italian Wine & Cheese Pairing at the same time.
  • Casa Cubana is now hiring.
  • In case you missed it, both Rumba Cubana and burger spot Diesel & Duke opened in downtown Jersey City.

Outside Jersey City

  • Via NJ.com, Hearthside in Collingswood was named on Bon Appetit's list of Top 50 nominees for America's Best New Restaurants.
  • A new Indian restaurant is coming to Hoboken. Soul Curry will be opening at 618 Washington St. They haven't formally announced their opening date, but they've started posting teaser photos of the menu on Instagram.
