Community News: Paisano's Opening Jersey City Outpost, FM Reopens as Live Music Venue, and more.

  • If you're interested in starting your own food business, join The Hudson Kitchen and Hudson Community College for a one day Food Business Bootcamp, created specifically for new entrepeneurs and food startups. Weekend Calendar of Events: Pride, Boxing, and Dinner in the Park




Friday, 8/25
  • It's the 2nd Annual Summer Sendoff Dinner at Van Vorst Park, beginning at 7pm. Tickets are $20, bring your own dinner and drinks, and they'll provide tables, flatware, plates, music, and a special ice cream dessert. 
  • There are a variety of Pride events all weekend long and Friday's festivities include a comedy night at Transmission from 7-9pm and a 70s dance party at FM beginning at 10pm
Saturday, 8/26

  • Saturday marks the actual Pride Festival beginning at 1pm on the Newark Ave Pedestrian Plaza. There will be music, dancing, drinks, and food along with an After Party at Transmission from 9pm - 2am.
  • Enjoy dinner at Van Vorst Park with the JC Parks Coalition for their Six Ward Dinner Series and fundraiser. Dinner is being prepared by Chef Steve of Caribbean Delicacies. Tickets are $35 for three courses. 
  • I don't really understand the appeal of boxing, but if you do:
    • O'Leary's will be screening the fight for $25 at the door with plenty of great food and drinks.
    • Lutze Biergarten is hosting a viewing inside the Harborside Atrium. $30 presale and $40 at the door with VIP and bottle service available. 
Sunday 8/27

  • To cap off Pride Week, join FM for their After Pride Hangover Brunch with music, a special menu, and of course, drinks. The performance starts at 1pm and reservations are recommended.

May Calendar of Events

May 5th - June 4th

  • Zeppelin Hall is celebrating Street Food of the World over the next month with rotating menus featuring popular street foods from countries all over the world, starting with Mexico and ending with food from all over Europe. 
Thursday, May 11th
  • Atlas Public House is kicking off a new weekly live music series with Latin gypsy jazz musicians Benjamin Husil and Frederika Krier. The music will be every Thursday with rotating artists from 6pm-8pm.
  • FM Jersey City is having their Grand Open to the public. The 70s-inspired  bar and restaurant had their ribbon-cutting early this month and have been going through a soft open, but join them Thursday for their official Grand Opening. 

Friday, May 12th
  • Join Midnight Market as they celebrate this month's theme: BRUNCH! As always, everything is $5 or less and they've got a great roster of vendors with brunch-themed specials ready to feed you.

Jersey City

  • FM Jersey City, the 70's inspired lounge that moved into the former Union Republic space at 340 3rd street, will be open starting this Wednesday, 5/3.
  • Congratulations to Midnight Market for their mention in the NY Times about the growing popularity of nighttime food markets. 
  • Sam a.m. announced the name of their new restaurant: The Oak on Pine - and the wonderful inspiration behind it. 
  • 902 Brewing opened a new storage warehouse in Jersey City and they're working on building out a taproom. 
  • Congratulations to Bucket & Bay on making it into the finals of the North American Gelato Artisan Competition.
