Community News: Melt Shop Coming Soon, LITM Celebrating 15 Years and More

Jersey City
  • Via Reddit, Melt Shop is expanding into Jersey City with a new location in the food court of the Newport Mall. Known for their burgers, grilled cheeses, and tater tots, this will be Melt Shop's first location in New Jersey. 
  • Third & Vine is having an All About Sicily dinner on Thursday, 11/15 beginning at 6:30pm They will have five courses with wine pairings and tickets are $65/person. 
  • LITM is celebrating 15 years in business this upcoming Saturday, 11/17, with a quinceanera-themed party. They'll have live music, a DJ, dancing, food, cocktail specials, and much more. The party begins at 7pm and goes to 2am.

Super Bowl Events in Jersey City

Super Bowl LII is coming up this Sunday and I've got your guide on where to watch and what to order.

Where to Go
Piggyback Bar is hosting a viewing party at Harborside. They'll have the game playing on two 20' screens and for $30, you get your seat, an all inclusive buffet including suckling pig, ribs and more and drink specials all game long. Use code jc_eats for $5 off ticket price.

Community News: Doughnut & Beer Tasting, Piggyback Bar to Launch Brunch, Hudson Hall Grand Opening

  • Growing in Jersey City and Glam About Town are hosting a special Halloween Doughnut and Beer Tasting at FM on Halloween night from 7-10pm for $35/person. There are four pairings and the doughnuts are being provided by Glazed & Confused.
  • Australian-inspired natural wine bar and eatery Frankie will be opening to the public for dinner this week.

Community News: Ed & Mary's, Piggyback Bar Hiring, O'Leary's Pig Roast & more

  • Congratulations to Rustique Pizza on celebrating 6 years in business, to Sam a.m. for celebrating 4, and Van Hook Cheese on celebrating their one year anniversary.
  • 9th & Coles has officially rebranded and reopened as Ed & Mary's, named after the owners. It will continue to operate as a neighborhood pub and community-oriented space with comfort food, their variety of American and craft beers, and traditional cocktails. 
  • Hudson County Community College is holding a series of family-friendly culinary classes from September through December. Right now, the classes are $29/person per class.

Community News: Piggyback Bar, Charlottesville, Ward Dinners

A note:

In addition, Jersey City Stands, The Hudson Pride Center, and The Jersey City Anti Violence Coalition Movement have banded together to host Stand for Peace on Monday on Newark Ave from 8-10pm.

  • Eater reports that Leah Cohen of Pig & Khao in the LES is opening an "Asian-accented tavern", Piggyback Bar, at Harborside. It will offer a mix of snacks and small plates with pan-Asian influences along with a number of larger entree dishes along with a full bar. It's currently expected to open in September. 
  • Battello had to temporarily shutter their doors this week, a month earlier than initially planned, so that necessary repairs could be made to the pier the restaurant is sitting on. They're anticipating reopening next spring. 
  • Third & Vine is hosting a Meet the Brewers Night with Transmitter Brewing this Tuesday, 8/15. There will be four beers paired with four cheeses for $35.
