Shucktoberfest, Zeppelin Hall
Head to Zeppelin Hall this weekend for their three day long Shucktoberfest featuring oysters on the half shell for $1.50 each. They'll have live 90s bands on Friday, a DJ on Saturday, and football all day Sunday.

Community News: PS Wine Bar Named 1 of 15 Best, Thinking Cup Cafe Now Open, Ghost of Uncle Joe's & Mine

- Congratulations to PS Wine Bar on being named one of the 15 Most Important Natural Wine Bars in America! PS Wine Bar has become one of my personal favorite spots with a creative and innovative wine list that encourages experimentation.
- New coffee shop Thinking Cup Cafe opened quietly last week at 201 Warren Street in the former Two Aprons space. They describe themselves a fast casual restaurant specializing in Mediterranean-American inspired cuisine, carrying soups, sandwiches, pastries and more.

Saturday, 10/7
- Join Point Capital Development, Lucky 7's, and RDG Hospitality for the Lafayette Neighborhood Oktoberfest. The party begins at 12pm and runs through 8pm at the Baker Building, 234 Suydam Ave - there will be music, drinks, food from Mordi's Schnitzel, and more.

- The JC West Side Chili Cook-Off has been announced! It will be held on Sunday, 10/8 beginning at 12pm. If you're interested in competing, read the rules here.

- Join Chris Leo of PS Wine Bar and Lourdes of the Vine for an Old World vs New World Wine Class on Tuesday 9/26 at 7pm. Tickets are $45/person.

Community News: Hurricane Harvey Help, Porta expanding, Jersey City Fish Stand & More
Over the past weekend, Hurricane Harvey caused devastating flooding throughout parts of Texas, displacing thousands, destroying homes, and injuring many others. If you'd like to help, here are some good options:
- Text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross who are on the scene helping provide temporary housing, relocation assistance, food, clothes, and medical supplies.
- Donate to these food banks in hard hit areas: Corpus Christi www.foodbankcc.com; Houston www.houstonfoodbank.org/donate/; Galveston www.galvestoncountyfoodbank.org/
- Huffington Post and Charity Navigator both have ongoing lists of verified organizations seeking donations of food, blood, money, and supplies like diapers and formula for families with small children.
- The date for the JC West Side Chili Cook-Off has been formally announced! It will take place on Sunday, 10/8.
- In sad news, Brazicki's Tavern in Jersey City Heights is closing after 72 years in business.
