Community News: Small Business Awards, Barcade's 7th Anniversary, and more

  • Congratulations to Lee Sims, Half Time Bar, Milk Sugar Love, Salerno Salumeria, Carmine's Italian Deli, ME Casa, Abbondanza Trattoria, Laico's, Whealth & Co, Dulce De Leche, Carmen Rosa's Bakery, The Grind Shop, and Gia Gelato and Cafe who were all honored and awarded winners at the 2018 Small Business Awards Ceremony by the city. The awards recognize small businesses in each ward of the city for their service and dedication to the Jersey City community. In addition, Bucket and Bay was recognized for their participation in the new Certified Green Business Program. 
  • The Grind Shop has brought back their La Colombe Draft Latte! It'll be available all spring and summer.

Community News: Marketplace JC Opening Day, Graze and Braise New Spring Menu, and more

  • A manager at Domino's on Communipaw Ave was attacked by two on-duty cops over a problem with their pizza delivery. The attack was caught on security tape and the two officers have been suspended without pay and face criminal charges.
  • A burlesque show scheduled to run at FM had to be cancelled at the last minute after city attorneys threatened the restaurant with fines and penalties for violating local obscenity laws. The decision has been unpopular with the local community and further action is pending.

Community News: Barcade's Winter Beer Night, Frankie Happy Hour, and more

  • Join Barcade this Thursday, 12/21 as they host Winter Beer Night with a specially selected tap list including Christmas ales and several stouts. All kegs will be tapped at noon and the event will go until closing. 
  • Frankie has introduced a new happy hour. Tuesday through Thursday from 5-7pm, they'll have half-priced wine by the glass, $8 cocktails, and $20 pitchers.

  • Barcade and Transmitter Brewing are celebrating the launch of Transmitter Beer being available on draft in New Jersey. There's a special draft list and the event begins at 12pm.

  • Pacific Flea starts back up with the first event of the season! It runs from 11am-5pm and is full of vintage and hand-crafted goods including vendors like Muttley Royale, Bang Cookies, and Cholita Paletas to feed you as you shop. It will be running every second Saturday from April-October.

  • Cocoa Bakery is now carrying Lemon Blueberry cupcakes which they make annually to benefit Chemo Comfort, an organization that makes and provides comfort kits to chemo patients. The cupcakes will be available until June 12th.
  • On Tuesday, June 21st June 28th, Hudson Kitchen is presenting their next Table Talk Live, focusing on how to market food businesses. Tickets are $20/person.
  • Speaking of Hudson Kitchen, they recently featured an interview with local company Baonanas.
