Event Recap: Jersey City Project: Market

Yesterday was the much anticipated Holiday Market presented by the Jersey City Project and Yelp and Jersey City turned out in full force for the occasion! There were tons of people, lots of great stands and creative gift items around and of course, some delicious food.

The variety and creativity on display was astounding with everything from imprinted goods from Nightingale Project to soaps and cars from Smith and Chang while Kanibal Home brought out some beautiful antique jewelry.

On top of it all, the food was awesome. Because of the overwhelming response, several places did end up selling out early including Talde, who was there giving a preview of what we can expect when they open their restaurant next fall. Clearly, Jersey City is ready and excited for them to join our community! Milk Sugar Love also sold out of pints and some baked goods, but continued to accept orders for all the holiday flavors.

Modcup was there, kept busy all day providing coffee and discussing roasting and brewing while Hamilton Inn helped by bringing in some adult beverages to contribute to the festive atmosphere.

I personally tried Thirty Acres' roasted squash dish with quark cheese, arugula, and turkish black pepper and absolutely loved it. The sweetness of the squash was perfect with the sour creaminess of the quark and that black pepper really spiced things up.

I also tried the Pernil Romero sandwich from Animals, a NYC-based sandwich shop, and it was incredibly flavorful and tender inside some excellent bread. I would absolutely go out of my way to get this again. I also got some hot chocolate (with fresh whipped cream) from Cocoa Bakery and was astonished by it's richness and deep cocoa flavor. Definitely something to warm you up when it's cold out.

This was a really great holiday event and there was so much to do, see, and eat! A big thank you to the organizers and all those involved in making it such a success and I personally can't wait to see what comes next from the Jersey City Project!
