Checking Out Livestock

If you haven't taken the time to check out Livestock yet, you're missing out. Offered as a once-weekly Sunday afternoon pop-up at LITM, Livestock is constantly exploring new ingredients and bringing creativity to their kitchen.

Every week I look forward to reading their menu to see what the chefs behind Livestock have come up with and having been in a couple of times now, I've yet to find it an easy decision on what to get. The simplest answer? Go with a few friends and split as much as you can.

Potential Meat CSA Available

While Jersey City has a a good overall farmer's market presence, one area that could use improvement is easy access to grass-fed, high-quality meat. Recently, a reader reached out to me to ask if I'd be interested in helping get a CSA from Herondale Farm started in Jersey City. They provide grass-fed, pasture-raised, antibiotic-free meat and I wanted to share the information because I think it would be a great and useful service for a lot of people.

Construction Updates #2 (Downtown)

Jersey City just keeps on building! Since there's been some pretty significant progress on a number of the restaurants opening around downtown and several announcements of new places, I figured it was a good time to do a run-down of what's going on.

Ahri's Kitchen, the family-run Korean spot opening at 227 7th St. (off Erie), has been hard at work for the past several months and it looks like they're at the point of finishing touches and final logistics. They've had a couple of preview diners in and the latest rumors are that they expect to be open within the next two weeks.

Raval, Satis Bistro's tapas restaurant, is opening at 136 Newark Ave. They still appear to be doing some minor construction work, but the majority of the inside appears done and they're predicting a late spring opening (hopefully around May).
