According to the permits on the window, construction has been going on since late last fall, but a temporary sign just went up within the past two days. The restaurant is self-described as a Vietnamese Cajun seafood restaurant which is an interesting combination. Personally, I think Downtown can use more of all those things, so hopefully this will be good.
No menu or real website yet, but it does seem like they're in progress and I believe they are hoping to open up mid-spring. There's a help wanted sign in the window and they've got ads posted online saying they're looking for all FOH and BOH positions, so it can't be too far away.
I agree that this is an interesting combination. There's a very large Vietnamese community in Louisiana, though, so it's likely tried and true.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I was doing some reading about it and apparently there are a lot of cross-ties amongst the cuisines. I'm looking forward to it.
DeleteI think/hope it will be something like this: http://www.houstoniamag.com/eat-and-drink/restaurant-reviews/articles/the-vietnamese-crawfish-craze-april-2014
ReplyDeleteI could definitely get into that - sounds delicious.
