Prato Bakery, one of the many locations being developed along Erie St., announced today that they are planning on opening this Saturday, March 7th.
Prato is a Tuscan-style bakery and coffee shop. It will serve a sweet and savory menu with Tuscan breads, sandwiches, pastries, and their specialty, a variety of cantucci, which are biscuits from Prato made with flour, sugar, eggs, almonds, and pine nuts. After the initial opening, they intend to be open every day starting from 7:30am-7:30pm except for Sundays, when they'll run from 8:30am-7:30pm
They already have the menu listed online with what looks like pretty reasonable pricing and promise traditional and authentic Italian coffee. Considering that 9 Bar and Carrino Provisions are only a couple blocks away, Prato Bakery is certainly entering into a fairly competitive market, but by looking at the information they provide and the specialties on their menu, there's still quite a bit of variety and enough room for everyone.
