Earlier this year, The Dopeness which previously hadn't been doing too well came under new management. They changed up the menu, started arranging more events, and began the process to get a liquor license which helped draw people back in, but in many ways the damage had been done and they were still faced with trying to turn a profit while being BYOB.
In late September, they decided to close down, do some repainting and minor renovations, and are now opening back up as a full bar and performance space under the name The Citizen.
They will have a small menu available, mostly focused on casual bar food with some creative additions (always nice to see) and will have live music, art shows, and other performances. The back space seems to be more open and they've already got a lot of art on the walls. They're scheduling a lot of events on their Facebook page, with the first one this Friday 11/13, so make sure to keep an eye out.
