Halloween Weekend Events!

It's Halloween Weekend in Jersey City and there is a lot going on!
  • The Iron Monkey is getting into the spirit with $6.66 drink specials tonight and the Samhain Soiree Costume Party tomorrow. There will be drink specials, free candy, and prizes.
  • On Friday between 3:30pm-7:00pm, hang out on Newark Ave for the City of Jersey City's Family Halloween Bash. The 2nd Annual Halloween Parade will kick off at Gymboree at 3:30 and there will be festivities like a petting zoo, "Frozen" themed games, pony rides, S'mores from Bambino Chef and food will be available to purchase from Tea NJ, WORD, Roman Nose & more.
  • After the Family Halloween Bash, Newark Avenue will continue the Halloween fun with the Newark Ave. Pedestrian Plaza Closing Party which will have food, cider, and beer from all over town, music from DJ Pastiche and dancing. This will be the last night of having Newark Ave closed off so make sure to enjoy it!
  • Lynn of Chicpea JC, in conjunction with a number of local Jersey City businesses, has put together an amazing 80's Halloween Prom and Fundraiser to begin at 8pm at Port-O Lounge. Live music, drinks, and free candy! A portion of the funds will go to benefit the Jersey City Youth Foundation. Tickets can be purchased at the door, but advanced purchase is recommended.
  • Trolley Car Bar & Grill is having a costume party Friday with prizes for the winners and plenty of drinks for everyone else.
  • Zeppelin Hall is holding a hybrid of Halloween and Oktoberfest to be known as Shocktoberfest with a live band, costume concert, and of course, plenty to eat and drink.
  • The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery will be having family-friendly Ghost Walks between 5pm and 10pm complete with ghost stories, pumkin decorating, costume prizes, and food/refreshments.
  • On Saturday, Nov. 1st, The Friends of Loew's will be hosting a screening of "The Shining" to be followed by a 1920's themed masquerade party featuring drinks, dancing, and light refreshments.
  • Riverview Farmers' Market will be having a Day of the Dead Festival on Sunday, Nov. 2nd and pan de muerto (a sweet pastry traditionally served on the Day of the Dead) will be available from Cinco De Mayo.
  • Orale MK will be celebrating Day of the Dead all weekend long with a DJ, drink specials, promos, a costume party, face-painting, and more.

Don't forget this weekend is the last weekend for Thirty Acres' brunch service.
Word is hosting a tasting/signing on Saturday morning with Ovenly Bakery of Greenpoint, Brooklyn

  1. So is the pedestrian plaza closed for good? Or will it reopen in the summer?

    1. This was sort of a trial run, to see how the plaza worked out, see how it affected traffic, etc. but I think it went well and while it's still under discussion (last I heard), I believe they will be bringing it back in spring/summer.
