Raval Opens This Week!

Spanish tapas bar Raval , (136 Newark Ave, off of Grove) is set to have their grand opening on Wednesday, May 27th and their ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 29th at 5pm. Run by Restaurant Development Group, the owners of Satis Bistro, this is one of the most anticipated restaurant openings of the year (at least by me) and the team behind it has been hard at work over the past several months, getting everything ready, creating mosaics, putting up art, and finalizing the menus.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week with brunch on the weekends ($1 drinks!) and they'll also be a much-needed addition to the late night dining scene in Jersey City, serving dinner until 11:00pm and a special late night menu until 1:00 am. Reservations are recommended and the hours of operation are:
 Monday – Thursday: 3pm-2am
 Friday: 3pm-3am
 Saturday: 11am-3am (Brunch 11am -3pm)
 Sunday: 11am-2am (Brunch 11am -3pm)
 Lounge – Thurs-Sun, 10pm-close

Raval will be serving Spanish-inspired tapas made with fresh local ingredients and they'll have a wide variety of drinks including several house-made sangrias, a special gin and tonic menu, and an extensive Spanish wine list. They will have seating both upstairs and downstairs, with the lounge downstairs featuring late night entertainment and music after dinner.

Congratulations and best of luck to Raval!

    1. Multiple 7 dollar brunch items and 1 dollar beverages and you complain about it being pricey? Probably one of the "cheapest" new restaurants around

    2. Not OP but those $1 beverages are only when participating in the $35 all you can eat brunch. This means they're essentially baked into that cost especially if you order 2 or fewer food items. $35 brunch + 2 $1 cocktails = $37. Even if you order the 2 most expensive brunch items you're still allocating $15 towards those cocktails or $7.50 each.

I don't think these prices are out of line for the neighborhood and it's easy to make that AYCE brunch deal worth it if you have 4+ drinks and 2+ food items in your 2.5 hours.
