Venti Food Truck Now Serving

New food truck Venti Italian Specialties has come to town!

Serving up Italian-American sandwiches, Venti started vending around downtown a few weeks ago, initially starting with dinner service before switching to lunch near Exchange Place which helped ease them into managing the crowds and getting the rhythm of ordering and food prep set to help minimize wait times. The second time I visited the truck, they'd only been out for lunch service a couple of days and already had a huge crowd, but while you could tell they were busy, they handled it incredibly professionally and kept the line moving. I've never seen a new truck stay as calm and efficient in the midst of a huge crowd the way they did.

The truck currently offers a variety of sandwiches, mostly Italian-inspired, usually with fresh mozzarella and served on a seeded roll. The menu includes their everyday standards like a chicken cutlet with roasted peppers & mozzarella, a caprese, chicken parm, and an Italian combo, but they also have rotating additions and daily specials. They're beginning to add in more cold-cut based sandwiches like hot and cold roast beef sandwiches, a turkey and fresh mozzarella, and they'll soon start working in some salads and other smaller dishes, while making sure they keep the size of the menu manageable.

I've had three sandwiches so far from the truck, and have really enjoyed all of them. My favorite was the chicken bruschetta which was bursting with complementary flavors and textures - it was stuffed full of juicy, garlicky tomatoes balanced with the crispy, herbed chicken and creamy mozzarella.  The turkey and fresh mozzarella, while simpler, was also delicious and incredibly flavorful especially with the addition of their pesto. There was nothing excessively fancy about it; everything just worked very well together. The bread they use is great - not too hard, not too soft, and all the ingredients are fresh including the mozzarella made daily.

The sandwiches are on the somewhat pricier side, staying pretty consistent at about $10, but they are huge and generously filled. I've found half is more than filling, but if you have a large appetite, a whole one will definitely do the trick. The guys on the truck are also incredibly friendly and take the time to introduce themselves, they try to remember repeat visitors, and ask how they enjoyed their past visits.

Venti plans to expand service to more times and more areas, so stay tuned, but if you can make it to Exchange Place, I definitely recommend swinging by for a sandwich. You can follow them on IG or Facebook for more info.
