Event Recap: The All About Downtown Street Fair

This year's All About Downtown Street Fair had gorgeous weather, vendors from all around Jersey City, and tons of people in attendance. It was a great day with plenty to do, see, eat, drink, and enjoy!

The food trucks were a big hit and every time I passed by, I saw people lining up and looking at menus. I tried a carnitas taco from the El Paso truck which was there in stand form. It was delicious - great amount of pork, perfectly cooked tortilla, plenty of lime, cilantro and onion.

There was a mix of NYC and NJ and specifically Jersey City food vendors all throughout the fair which I was very happy to see. While it was fun to have the NY trucks around, I'm really glad the organizers brought in so many local options and businesses as well - after all, the fair is about Downtown so it deserves to be well represented.
I won't run through everyone that was there, but here are a few samples. Hamilton Park was there serving beer, red and white sangria, and a strawberry/cucumber cocktail. Orale was making fresh guacamole, Park and Sixth had several beers available and a philly cheesesteak roll.

The Little Sandwich Shop, Roman Nose, Helen's Pizza, Two Boots, and Cafe Saigon were there, Barcade and PJ Ryans were also there, serving drinks and there were so, so many more great options available. Just walking down a couple of blocks, the diversity and availability of options in Jersey City was so clear and so exciting to see.

I also got an eggplant mini-burger from Jersey Veggie Burgers which was delicious. Unfortunately, that was the last day it was available, but Liz did mention that she's going to have pumpkin burgers coming in a few weeks so that's something to look forward to! One of my friends enjoyed a Three Sisters veggie burger noticing that it actually stays together unlike many other veggie burgers, and while we were doing that, another one took advantage of Milk Sugar Love being right next door and got some of the excellent olive oil ice cream.

There were tons of crafts and goods around including jewelry, furniture, clothes, and artwork. There was a focus on making the fair both appealing to adults and kids with booths and activities just for kids, including a whole play section and it was definitely a family-friendly event.

Being able to go enjoy All About Downtown was a blast and I loved being able to see so many different pieces of Jersey City all in one space. Jersey City has a lot to be proud of and events like this prove it. Everyone involved and all the vendors who spent all day out there deserve a huge thank-you for their time and dedication - it was worth it!
