Football Sundays

It's Football Season and Sundays are now dedicated to the watching of NFL games throughout the country and the best place to do that is in a bar with large TVs that will serve you beer and food.

Here's a quick round-up of some local places around Jersey City to watch football and Sunday Specials they are running. These aren't reviews or recommendations (coming later), just information:

O'Hara's Downtown:
Located at 172 1st Street and Marin. It has 14 TVs and serves $3 pints all day.

White Star at Harbor or White Star on Brunswick:
White Star at Harbor is located at 179 Warren Street at Essex
White Star on Brunswick is 230 Brunswick at Pavonia Ave
Both are set-up for plenty of game-watching on Sunday, but White Star at Harbor is considered to be a little more "family-friendly".

PJ Ryans
Recently expanded and located at 292 Barrow St. on Mercer. It now has a 75 inch TV as well as plenty of 45 inch tvs around with an expansive dining space and they serve $3 pints of Coors Light, Bud Light and Yuengling.

Brightside Tavern
Brightside Tavern is located at 141 Bright Street on Monmouth Street. It has a large dining section but the action is all in the bar area. There's enough room here for a crowd and plenty of TV's to watch.

Corkscrew
Corkscrew Bar and Grill is located in the Heights at 61 Congress and Webster and they promise football all day and all night. Their Sunday specials are: $1 off well mixed drinks, $3 Coors Lite & Yuengling drafts, $2 for 2 hot dogs, $2.50 PBR, an order of wings any style or a cheeseburger + pitcher of Coors Lite or Yuengling for $15.

Orale MK
Orale at 341 Grove Street is probably not the first place you think of when trying to find a sports bar but they do have a decent bar area with TVs and they offer $15 buckets of Corona every Sunday.

Zeppelin Hall, 88 Liberty View Drive on Regent, is not just a biergarten, it's also a bar that has a giant room with plenty of TVs to watch the games on. For both Sunday and Monday NFL, they offer 1/2 price wings and $3.00 Coors Light although you could also just enjoy the wide variety of what they keep on tap.

If you've got a favorite place to watch the game, let me know! I'd love to be able add onto this list.

  1. Hopscotch. Really good bar food, a massive beer selection, and TVs everywhere.

  2. I'd heard some mixed reviews so I didn't include it, but haven't actually checked it out - now I will, thanks!
