Halloween Hits Jersey City

Happy Halloween Jersey City! Here's what's happening:

While not an event, Grandma Downtown is running an Oktoberfest roll special through 11/1. The chicken sausage & onion rolls and bacon cheddar sausage and jalapeno rolls are $2 each for delivery.

942 Summit is hosting Day of the Dead craft-making from 4pm-6pm Wednesday, 10/28

On Friday, Jersey City Ties is hosting a special Halloween Eve bash, Journal Scare! Held at Art House Productions, 136 Magnolia Ave, beginning at 7pm. There will be live music, food, drinks, a costume contest and more. Tickets are available for pre-purchase for $8 or will be available at the door for $10

Friday, 10/30, is the start of Shocktoberfest VII at Zeppelin Hall. Beginning at 9pm both Friday and Saturday, Zeppelin Hall will celebrate both Oktoberfest and Halloween with live bands, DJs, and a costume contest with a $500 first prize.

McGinley Square Pub is hosting their first Halloween Extravaganza where groups of 4 or more in costume will get $5 pitchers all Friday and Saturday from 8pm on.

Chilltown Kitchen is having a very special Halloween Masquerade edition of their Supper Club, held at a private residence, with special cocktail pairings and an amazing menu. Tickets are $80 and must be purchased in advance.

Saturday
Third & Vine will be closed on Saturday, so make sure you visit before or after Halloween.

Audubon Park is having a Halloween Extravaganza with a costume parade, games, a bouncy house, and treat bags. The festivities begin at 1pm

From 4:00pm-8:00pm, head over to the Van Vorst Park gazebo for a trick or treat party with candy, cookies, and hot cider.

Tales from the Crypt at Harsimus Cove Cemetery ($10) begins at 4:30 pm and will offer games, walking tours, pumpkin painting and local food vendors.

The HDSID Family Halloweeen Bash will run from 2pm - 6pm on Saturday at the Pedestrian Plaza on Newark. Vendors like Bambino Chef, The Brunswick School, and Cocoa Bakery will be there along with other food, drinks, and kids activities. After the Family Halloween Bash, stay put for Halloween on Newark Avenue with a special edition of the Artists & Makers Market with over 30 vendors, music, Tarot Card readers, and a wide range of HDSID food vendors like Helen's, Raval, Skinner's Loft, and more.

The Barrow Mansion's Shake Your Ghoul Thing begins at 7:30pm, hosted by the Van Vorst Park Association! There will be drinks, food, and dancing and tickets are $25

O'Leary's is having a Halloween Party from 9pm on. There will be a DJ and a prize for best costume although costumes are not required to enjoy the party. Other bars holding Halloween parties include Pint, O'Hara's, Yaphaus, Miss Wong's at Talde, South House, and a Game of Thrones Halloween Party at Iron Monkey. Porta will be having a special party with $3 drink specials and Barcade will be tapping special beers and hold a costume contest with some very specific categories.

Sunday
The Riverview Farmer's Market will be hosting a Day of the Dead Parade and Celebration including a dog costume contest. Stop by, do some shopping from local farmers and makers, and enjoy the holiday.

The Save LSP Bike Rides and Bands Protest, hosted by Friends of Liberty State Park, is on Sunday at Liberty State Park from 10:30am-5:00pm. There will be a group bike ride for those interested, live music beginning at 1pm, food trucks like Chopping Block, The Green Radish, hot cider from Cider Fusion, and other park-friendly fun.
