Thirty Acres To Become The Kitchen Step

When Thirty Acres announced they were closing, they mentioned they'd been in talks with another restaurant development group familiar with Jersey City to take over the space and over the weekend, it was revealed that it will be taken over by the team behind Battello, Chef Ryan DePersio and his partners.

This will be DePersio's second restaurant in Jersey City and his fourth establishment overall, although the first to branch away from his Italian background. DePersio is planning a Modern American menu and is aiming for a relaxed neighborhood feel. While this isn't a surprise and will most likely be well-executed if the meals at Battello are anything to go by, I'm a bit disappointed to see yet another chicken-tuna-burger menu hit downtown.

Thirty Acres is set to close November 28th and since it's a currently functioning restaurant and just needs minor changes, it will most likely reopen in early 2016 as The Kitchen Step under DePersio and his team.
