The Van Vorst Farmer's Market, held at Van Vorst Park, had their opening day last weekend and is now open every Saturday from 8am-3pm. Vendors include fresh juice vendor Squeeze'd, knife sharpening company X-Caliber, Modcup, Taproot Organics, JC Fish Stand, Novello Cucino with prepared Italian food, and new vendors like Caribbean Delicacies and Bang Cookies (formerly Bang Me Bakery) among others.
This is also the first weekend for the Riverview Farmer's Market on Sunday at Riverview-Fisk Park in Jersey City Heights. Held every Sunday through November from 10am-3pm, the Riverview Farmer's Market continues to be one of my personal favorites for their amazing views, variety of vendors, and great activities like live music, yoga, cooking demonstrations, and more.
This year, they've substantially increased their vendor list, bringing five different farms to the market, food trucks including ME Casa, Incrediballs, and El Chilango, stands like Jersey City Veggie Burgers and Dolce Desserts, Jill Koproski with locally made pottery and many more. For the full list and breakdown of the schedule, check their website.
Opening Day for the market will have a fencing demonstration for kids, donation-based Yoga in the Park, and a kick-off concert with music from 12:15pm-2pm.
*Important note for all Farmer's Markets - Jersey City has banned the use of plastic bags at the Farmer's Markets. Please bring your own.
The market includes vintage and hand-crafted goods from vendors in New Jersey and beyond and features a ton of great food stands and trucks. This year, the new owners of Chopping Block will be serving up their special coffee, DessertBreakfast, at every market and the incredibly popular Baonanas will there as will Mike's Bagel Chips, The Guac Spot, Taste of Poland, and many more.
