Cellar 335 Opening this Week

New tiki bar Cellar 335 will officially open their doors for service at 5pm this Tuesday, 8/16, to be followed by their more formal Grand Opening on Wednesday, 8/17.

Located at 335 Newark Ave, next to Madame Claude's Bis, Cellar 335 will be a full service tiki bar and restaurant open from 5pm-2am every Tuesday-Saturday and for brunch parties on Sundays.

Since the last post, Cellar 335 has updated their site, putting out menus covering everything from cocktails to desserts. A quick review shows cocktails in what has become the reasonable $9-$12 range including a selection of daiquiris and a short list of shareable drinks for $28-$36, a decent selection of wines by the glass at $8-$12, and a select menu of beers at $6-$8. Cellar 335 will also have coffee service using For Five coffee, a roaster in Queens.

The food menu itself, both dinner and dessert, is certainly one of the more ambitious to have come out of the newest wave of restaurant development in Jersey City with a lot of typically American favorites updated and given an Asian twist, like the Cornbread with honey-togarashi butter for $2 or the Prime Creekstone Skirt Steak with miso for $20. About 1/3 of the menu is vegetarian and the majority of those are vegan with dishes like Avocado Fried Rice for $13 and the "Chill" Noodle with strawberry, cucumber, and coconut for $11. The menu appears to be set up to work both as a bunch of sharing dishes or as appetizers/mains.

Every aspect of the restaurant from the murals to the pricing appears to have had a great deal of thought and attention put into it and per their website, they care just as much about service. While it's always hard to tell pre-opening and every restaurant goes through an adjustment period right after opening their doors, it seems like there's a lot to look forward to at Cellar 335.
