Community News: Gelato Festival, La Cote starts Brunch, and more

Jersey City


  • Head to Liberty State Park on 8/11 and 8/12 to join in on Gelato Festival 2018, part of a world-wide, three year long competition leading up to the 2021 Grand Finals in Italy to win the title of Gelato Festival World Master.
  • Via the Jersey Journal, congratulations to Thomas Mullaghy, owner of Grape Vine Tavern, on celebrating 50 years with the bar. Grape Vine Tavern was the first bar in Jersey City to be given a liquor license after Prohibition. 
  • Whealth & Co. has launched a new Farm Box service which will enable fresh produce pick-up from their storefront. You'll place your request for a box on Monday, the produce will be picked and packed on Tuesday, and available locally on Wednesday. 
  • La Unica Bakery has launched a new breakfast and lunch service. 
  • Tea NJ has started carrying the Beyond Burger as part of their plant-based menu. 
  • La Cote launched brunch service this past weekend. It will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm and it is BYO.
  • B. Good, with locations at Newport Mall and throughout New Jersey, recently joined up with logistics and delivery service DoorDash and as part of their partnership, B. Good will be making a donation to Feeding America for every order placed through DoorDash. 
Outside Jersey City
  • NJ Monthly put our their annual list of the 30 Best Restaurants in NJ 2018. There will be some familiar faces with spots from Jersey City, Hoboken, Montclair, and Newark making the cut.
  • Stone House NJ has announced that Chef David Drake will be their new Executive Chef. Chef Drake has previously been associated with Green Hooke and Lighthorse Tavern here in Jersey City. 
  • Graze and Braise is now delivering to Harrison and Montclair.
