The shop, 342 7th Street between Monmouth and Brunswick, should be a welcome addition to the neighborhood which is undergoing a lot of construction and development, primarily residential. They just passed their final inspection and are ready to start serving trial runs of their coffee.
The owner and manger of the shop, Luciane, is originally from the southern part of Brazil which is the inspiration behind the shop. They'll be serving up coffee roasted in Brooklyn by Kitten Coffee who primarily sources their beans from similar regions in the south of Brazil and offering up brigadeiros, specialty Brazilian bonbons along with more standard coffee shop fare.
I stopped by the shop the other day to see how things were progressing and, by creepily staring deep into the glass, could tell they were very close to ready. The shop is cozy, full of exposed brick and wood floors with a couple of seats in the front including a nice window area, and more room in the back of the shop where a bookcase and some seating is already set-up.
The shop is using a La Marzocco espresso machine, one of the best known commercial machines, and it looks like they also have a pretty substantial pastry display case ready to be filled so we can hopefully expect good things to come.
Good luck to Seven Sheep on their opening!
