Get to Know JC Eater: JC Muddy Sidewalk

Welcome to "Get to Know JC Eater" where every week I post a profile of a local resident who wants to share where and what they love to eat in Jersey City.  This site is meant to be useful to the community so what better way to do that then involve the community itself? If you'd like to be featured, please leave a comment below or email me directly.

This week's JC Eater is a neighborhood Twitterer who loves checking out new places and like so many of us, has a deep love for Second Street's cinnamon bread.
What's your name?
JC Muddy Sidewalk

Where in Jersey City do you live?
Paulus Hook, near Exchange Place

Do you have a favorite non-food spot/area in Jersey City?
Liberty State Park and Lincoln Park are great spots to go and bike, run or play some tennis.  We really enjoy the Van Vorst Park and Hamilton Park areas, walking down a tree lined street surrounded by beautiful brownstones is the best.

Do you follow a specific dietary lifestyle?
We do Meatless Mondays and have really cut back on the amount of beef we eat.  We try to only buy locally raised beef from the JC farmers markets.

What are your favorite places to eat in your neighborhood?
Sam AM's supper club is great for a weekday dinner and Satis/Light Horse are weekend go-to's.  Rumi is our take out spot, their bread is on point. Greene Hook's happy hour is a Sunday favorite for tacos, oysters and good beers.

What are your favorite places to eat in Jersey City overall?
Third and Vine always has interesting wines and their cheeses are very well curated.  Dolma (recently opened) is my favorite at the moment, there are so many crave-able dishes and its a BYOB.
(Turkish Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon at Dolma)

It's hard to beat picking up sandwiches from 2nd street deli and watching football on a fall Sunday but the struggle is real to try and not over do it by ordering their cinnamon bread on the side.

Is there a particular dish in Jersey City that's your favorite or that you find yourself recommending over and over?
The hanger steak kebab at Dolma is fantastic - the steak is seasoned perfectly and its served on a parsnip puree with blue cheese cream.  2nd street deli's cinnamon bread is in a class of its own.  The shrimp tacos at Greene Hook's happy hour are awesome too.

What kind of restaurant would you love to see in Jersey City that isn't here already?
I really miss MAE and Sava polish deli, I would love to see them make a come back.
