Located right next to Choc-O-Pain Bakery on Jersey Avenue, the store is one of several specialty retailers and restaurants to open within a two block area over the past two years creating a small stretch of dedicated, ingredient-specific shops including Jersey City Fish Stand and Pasta Dal Cuore.
Van Hook is family-run by local Jersey City residents and will be primarily focusing on being a local cheesemonger, but they'll also have a variety of cured meats on offer along with other complementary high quality grocery items.They plan to focus on local producers with a specialized interest in sustainable and small-batch products.

The shop, formerly the home of LoLo Organics, has been undergoing renovations over the last four months, but they did preview some of what's to come at the Grove Street and Hamilton Park Farmers' Markets earlier this summer and everything I tried was excellent.
Once open, the store's hours will be Tuesday-Friday from 11am-8:30pm, Saturday 10am-8:30pm, and Sunday 10am-6pm.

ReplyDeleteI went on Wednesday - just what I had hoped for. A lovely shop with a great selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Jersey Avenue is really shaping up into a fine food street.
