Community News: Ed & Mary's, Piggyback Bar Hiring, O'Leary's Pig Roast & more

Jersey City
  • Congratulations to Rustique Pizza on celebrating 6 years in business, to Sam a.m. for celebrating 4, and Van Hook Cheese on celebrating their one year anniversary.
  • 9th & Coles has officially rebranded and reopened as Ed & Mary's, named after the owners. It will continue to operate as a neighborhood pub and community-oriented space with comfort food, their variety of American and craft beers, and traditional cocktails. 
  • Hudson County Community College is holding a series of family-friendly culinary classes from September through December. Right now, the classes are $29/person per class. 
  • Join Jersey City Ties on Tuesday, 9/19 at LITM as they host a food and clothing drive for local organizations Food Not Bombs. Check the tweet for what kind of donations they're looking for. 
  • O'Leary's is kicking off football season with a pig roast next Sunday, 9/10
  • Tea NJ is hosting Dinner and a Movie along with the Environmentalist Animal Rights Team of Hoboken on Wednesday, 9/13.
  • Choc O Pain is donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of their choc au pains during the month of September to help support Children's Cancer Awareness.
  • Piggyback Bar, the offshoot of Pig and Khao coming to Harborside, is now hiring for line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. 

Outside Jersey City
  • Eater published a fairly comprehensive guide to eating in Newark and its culinary history. 
  • The Jersey Drafts and Crafts Festival in Freehold is coming up soon. Featuring all NJ-made drinks and food, the festival runs from 12pm-4pm on 9/16 and tickets range in price from $40-$75.
  • The Kearny-based bbq spot, Red White & Que, is planning to expand to more than 55 new locations within the next two years, both in and out of New Jersey.
