Community News: Pokay Tacos, Gin and Jupiter at LSC After Dark, Free Downtown Yogurt and more.

  • Pokay is introducing a new menu item: poke tacos in nori shells! Tuesday is the first day they're available. 
  • Join Liberty Science Center and Midnight Market this Thursday 1/18 for Gin and Jupiter at LSC: After Dark. Brockman's Gin, Corgi Spirits, and Botanist Gin will all be there as well as some of Midnight Market's favorite vendors with $5 bites, intergalactic laser tag, an alien tribble filled ball pit and much more. Tickets are $20.
  • Next Tuesday 1/23, join Jersey Wine and Spirits and Van Hook Cheese for a night exploring the Wine and Cheese of Italy. Tickets are $40 and the event starts at 7pm. 
  • Sam a.m. is hiring servers. 
  • Downtown Yogurt will be celebrating their fourth anniversary this Friday, 1/19 with free frozen yogurt from 6-8pm. 
  • Bang Cookies has launched a new cookie, The Kitchen Sink, featuring organic pretzels, organic toffee, and organic milk and dark chocolate. 
  • The Hutton has some new winter happy hour specials. 
  • Join Hooked JC this Friday, 1/19 at 4pm for their official ribbon cutting. 
  • WHOS Gluten-Free is now carrying a new special: vegan paleo tacos, 3 for $7 with either bean salad or sweet potato wedges. 
  • ICYMI - both new coffee shop Hidden Grounds and new ramen spot Menya Sandaime opened last week. 
  • Riverview Jazz is holding a fundraiser on Monday 1/22 at Madame Claude's. There will be live jazz by Manouche Bag, a silent auction, specialty cocktails, hors d'ouevres, and more. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here

Outside Jersey City
  • New York City-based Hummus and Co. is opening five new franchise locations across Central Jersey by 2019. They are known for their fast-casual Mediterranean dishes and most particularly, their unique dessert-based hummus flavors. 
  • According to website and magazine Beer Connoisseur, the best beer in the country is The Topsail, a sour blonde ale from Cape May Brewing Co. The brewery was also named as the second runner-up for the best brewery in the country. 
  • Join Squeeze'd for their ribbon cutting in Bayonne on 1/24 from 1-3pm. They will have samples of their own treats as well as some from Bake N Brew and Left Bank Burger Bar.
