Last Minute Gift Ideas

Time is running short but if you're still looking for some emergency gifts, food and food-related items are always great options. Here are some of your best bets around Jersey City:

Gift Cards - A number of restaurants and small shops around town offer gift cards, making it a great fit for someone local. Either pick up something for their favorite spot or help encourage them to try someplace new. Best bets include The Archer, Sam a.m., Milk Sugar Love, Razza (who will throw in a $10 gift certificate when you buy $50), Ozu Foods, and for the local beer lover, Departed Soles.

If you'd like to give more of an experience, Jersey Girls Food Tours offers gift certificates that can be used towards all future tours on their website. Tickets are also still available for the Jersey City Wine Fest in January.

Milk Sugar Love - Milk Sugar Love has a lot of great options but two particular favorites are the Salted Bourbon Caramels and the Macaron Duos. Both are available in their own gift boxes ready, travel well, can be appreciated by anyone ranging from your dry-cleaner to your work spouse, and in the case of the salted caramels, likely to keep a little longer than something freshly-baked.

Cool Vines - This is a great stop for any last minute gift needs. Pick up a great bottle of wine (they've got a whole wall of their top picks that won't steer your wrong), an interesting scotch, beer made locally from Departed Soles, drinking accessories, or even just something as simple as a small-batch jam.

Van Hook Cheese - Van Hook has one of the best collections of unique ingredients and gourmet favorites in Jersey City. You can pick up everything from locally made jam by Bread + Spoon to specialty hot chocolate mixes to traditional gingerbread to small batch bitters. They also a carry a lot of beautifully-crafted goods including holiday napkins, candles, cheese boards, and will help create gift baskets and platters.

Happy last minute shopping!
