Welcome to weekly series,"Friday Feature"! The first Friday of every month will continue to be "Get to Know JC Eater" showcasing a local resident and their recommendations, but on all other Fridays, a specific dish or find from around Jersey City will be featured on the blog.
This week's feature is the Artist's Special from The Archer.
What better way to start off a three day weekend then with a Friday Feature of a great cocktail? The Artist's Special is just that - made with bourbon, Amontillado sherry, lemon, and grenadine, this is a delicious and almost dangerously drinkable cocktail.
I'm not the biggest fan of sherry so I was a little hesitant to try this, but knowing The Archer does a great job at balancing flavors in their cocktails, I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did. The sherry puts it on the drier side, balancing out the sweetness of the bourbon while enhancing some of the richer, more caramel notes. Add in the fresh tang of the lemon which lightens up the entire drink, and this complex cocktail offers a little of everything including a warming buzz. This is a cocktail to unwind with and ease into your evening.
Have a Friday Feature you'd like to nominate? Comment below, email me, or post a picture of it on Instagram with #jceatsFF along with a sentence or two about what it is you're nominating for a chance to have it included on the blog. One restriction - please don't nominate your own food if you're a restaurant or chef.
