Construction Update: Ani Ramen Announces Opening, 9 Bar Cafe, Ample Hills Creamery

Get ready, Jersey City! Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be posting a series of construction updates from all over town and over the next several months, prepare to see a lot more new places opening up.

First on the list, one of the most anticipated openings of the year: Ani Ramen House at 218 Newark Avenue.

After facing several construction delays,  Ani Ramen will open to the public on Monday, April 24th and celebrate their ribbon-cutting with the city on May 4th at 4pm.

This Jersey City outpost of the popular Montclair location will be have a full bar with a Japanese-inspired beverage program created in partnership with NYC mixologist Kenta Goto, owner of Bar GOTO. They're also expanding the menu (which does contain vegetarian/vegan items) to include yakitori grilled options on their outdoor patio which will open in May.

Considering the buzz and long-awaited arrival of Ani Ramen, it's likely they will have long waits when they first open, so be prepared. They don't accept reservations and it's eat-in only - no take out.


9 Bar Cafe is expanding to a second location in downtown Jersey City in the new Urby building at Harborside. While no official opening date has been set yet, the space is ready, set-up, and they are currently running a soft open. 9 Bar Cafe will continue to use the private label coffee they use at Erie Street and will have a similar drink and food menu available including salads, sandwiches, paninis, etc.

It seems as though Ample Hills Creamery will be joining 9 Bar at Urby. While no formal details have been publicized, a sign has gone up over the ground floor commercial space at Urby advertising that they are coming soon. The Brooklyn-based shop is known for their indulgent, whimsical, and often candy-packed ice cream, all made in small batches.
