Yesterday, Union Republic announced they will be closing after close to three years in business. This Saturday night, 9/10, will be their last day of service (via

A Hen Full Ramen |
While no specific reason was given, the restaurant posted a message on
Facebook saying,
"The last three years have been a time of tremendous growth but unfortunately Union Republic has run its course." Known primarily for their fusion-style ramen, the menu and approach to the restaurant have evolved substantially over time, originally opening as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner BYO space and grocer to a more upscale dinner and brunch only menu with a liquor license and specialized cocktail list. While the food was generally well-received, they faced mixed reviews when it came to service and consistency.
Located in the Village at 340 3rd Street, Union Republic marked one of the earliest openings of the wave of restaurants to hit downtown over the past few years. Stop by before the end of the night Saturday to say goodbye.
My name is Andres and I was employed at the Union Republic for the better part of two years. I saw the establishment through its boom period and as it slowly started to die. It was not a spot for everyone, as the review will most definitely let you know. However for those who enjoyed the work we did and the food we put out thank you for an astounding 2 years.
