Hard Grove Now Open
Hard Grove Cafe is now open at 286 1st Street, the former Port-O Lounge. The restaurant opened on Friday in the new space after several setbacks at two previous locations.
For those newer to Jersey City, Hard Grove was one of the first defining restaurants of downtown as it currently is and was a longstanding fixture, offering great mojitos, Cuban food, and outdoor seating on the corner of Grove and Columbus. It was both a hangout and a party spot and has been sorely missed over the past few years as it's tried to find a new home.
The new Hard Grove is serving a fairly similar, although more limited menu, with classics like their pueblo guacamole and mojo-marinated grilled chicken as well as some updates like an avocado salad on kale and a quinoa-stuffed bell pepper. Prices are between $12-$30 and they do have a full bar including their mojitos (now served in mason jars) which you can also enjoy in the backyard during warmer months.
They haven't yet updated their FB or website with details of the new restaurant, but they have announced Hard Grove will be hosting a 5K run/walk on August 27th at Liberty State Park with proceeds benefitting Colors of Autism.
Hard Grove will be open from 3pm-2am Sundays through Thursdays and open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm.
